When going to test drive a car for the first time, do I need day car insurance or does the car dealership handle it?

I've never gone car shopping before so unsure

The car dealer should have trade plates. There may be restrictions on age and you will need a full license to test drive using their insurance.

Yes, usually dealers insurance but most need full licence and some restrict on age. Ask them when you get there.
